SAFETY TIPS
- Do not breathe brake dust when performing brake
inspection or repair work. Some old brake pads contain asbestos, which
can cause health problems. Never clean brake dust with compressed air or a
brush. Use a dampened rag instead. If you are working on brakes that have
asbestos pads, wear a high-efficiency
dust mask suitable for the purpose and take additional precautions to avoid
breathing the dust. Finally, use non-asbestos or semi-metallic replacement pads
if possible.
- Never road test a vehicle after brake work has been
done until the pedal is tested and has firm action.
